Hello all, Due to the "skunk works" session in Los Angeles, this week's Friday DM project management meeting is cancelled. In lieu of that, I include a few items here:
Task-based Cost Estimate: Starting next week, I will focus almost entirely on this activity. I will be asking for the following support, most of which should be simply capturing information we already have and updating the UML model to reflect it: TechAssessWG - Update the Deployment Model in the UML with diagrams for Mountain, Base, and Archive and network infrastructure configurations, including capacity/throughput numbers. Assemble vendor cost information for the configurations (quotes are best, estimates are okay, indicate which is which). Assemble power, cooling, floor space requirements and estimated costs for them. Estimate maintenance/replacement costs. Fill out Cost Estimating Spreadsheet (document- in the project archive) for each major WBS item. MiddleWG - Update UML Use Case and Domain model with results of skunk works session. Add annotations for each domain model/robustness object or interface indicating the planned implementation approach (e.g. C++ object, OGRE script, MPI library, etc.). Sagittarius Team and Application WGs - Same as MiddleWG. I will create estimates and fill out Cost Estimating Spreadsheets for Application and Middleware layers using this information, the estimating model I have used in the past (FPA, CoCoMo -based), as well as information I already have regarding similarl projects (SDSS, 2MASS).
