Infrastructure Estimates Use templates from Thomas Frey, Ted Lavine for estimates, posted in archive. Roll up at WBS level 5 (e.g. Archive Center Computing, Base Facility Storage). Work to converge Don Dossa, Mike Huffer DAQ/Mtn Base views. Don to send document out with his architecture. MREFC will use consensus if there is one, otherwise we will go with whatever is more ³provably feasible² and work consensus post-proposal. Archive Center purchases in construction are 2 years ahead (development plus first 2 years of operations), Base Facility is one year ahead. Only these are in construction budget, the rest is operations budget. Adhere to cost targets spreadsheet in project archive, flag major variations early. Get quotes with 2007 prices, extrapolate to 2010 using DOE R&D proposal trends. Continue extrapolation for operational estimate (less detailed than construction). Don to compare Salishan presentations to DOE R&D proposal trends. Board is still deciding site, decision due in early June. Use Cerro Pachon as a baseline since we know it better, but make sure architecture would support an SPM choice. Need to have TechAssessWG meetings weekly until estimates are in. Jeff to post in calendars. Don Dossa - Good contacts now into 3com, Cisco for prices quotes, configurations. Also good contact at Obsidian for Longbow/IB. Has been exchanging information with Ron Lambert.
