I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to this (I assumed that the thread was DC1 only).
Are we trying to define a package system that extends beyond DC1? Ifso, we have to handle dependencies and distutils isn't going to cut it ---
I have some thoughts on this that I'll send around when I get a chance.
If this is DC1, ignore my mutterings.
