zoneId in schema
================
- zoneId and htmId are two different things
- yes, we used to have zoneId in the schema long time ago
- what is the point of keeping zoneId if we have htmZoneId?
- different indexes are better for different types
of spatial searches
--> add zoneId
--> rename htmZoneId to htmId
- we need to do more tests focused on performance of spatial
queries
- Sloan experience suggests zoneId is very useful
- queries to use: cone searches (the bigger the better)
see lsst common queries and sdss 20 queries
common queries
==============
- sdss "20 queries" represent typical load, not worst load
- we should try to capture common queries in pure scientific form,
without implementation details (like which spatial index is used)
- domain model in uml is good for that
- currently it is object reach, attribute poor,
- need to start looking at it and see what is missing
- we will be discussing the lsst common queries in more
details during December all hands meeting
- it would be also useful to have queries that will be
executed by pipelines
- DC2 intended to cover prototypical implementation of pipeline,
so we should have some queries by then
postagestampjpegs
=================
- relatively big in sdss
- Tim has some concrete ideas, we need him to discuss this topic
Will try to arrange more pre- schema-meeting discussions
(with Tim, Kem, Maria, Ani, Sergei), maybe next Friday

Hi,
We will have a DataAccWG telecon this Friday at 11:00 PST.
Phone number: 866 330 1200
passcode: 300 2363
The agenda:
- database schema
- any other topics you'd like to add
I put my notes regarding pending/proposed schema changes
in Docushare: Document-2407
Most of the issues raised in this document will likely
be discussed at the planned db-schema meeting
(Oct 18-19 in Tucson). Topics I'd like to cover
this Friday include
- missing zoneId (raised by Maria)
- persisting: policies, provenance, metadata
The latest prototype schema (merged LLNL+UW)
is in Docushare: Document-1888
Jacek
