Hi everybody,

I am new to this list and fairly unexperienced with Linux networking.

I am trying to set up a diskless terminal using a server which is running
Suse 7.1. Since the server is attached to my cable modem I now have two
network cards in the server. The cards, as well as the one in the terminal
are all rtl-8139 compatible (actual brand: Sitecom).

The problem is with dhcp I think, the cable modem uses pppoe, for which I
use the Roaring penguin package.
I installed the LTSP packages as described in the documentation, eth0 is
still in use by the internet connection, and the server IP address is
(rightly) attached to eth1.

When I boot I get the following messages:

Sep 20 21:06:04 linux kernel: usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports
Sep 20 21:06:05 linux dhcpd: No subnet declaration for eth0 (0.0.0.0).
Sep 20 21:06:05 linux dhcpd: Please write a subnet declaration in your
dhcpd.conf file for the
Sep 20 21:06:05 linux dhcpd: network segment to which interface eth0 is
attached.
Sep 20 21:06:05 linux dhcpd: exiting.
Sep 20 21:06:53 linux dhcpcd[265]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server
response
Sep 20 21:06:55 linux modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-108
Sep 20 21:06:55 linux pppoe[1007]: send (sendPacket): Network is down
Sep 20 21:07:10 linux last message repeated 2 times
Sep 20 21:07:30 linux pppoe[1007]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets

The terminal boots, and then stops with:
"searching for server (dhcp)"

How can I convince the dhcpd program to only use eth1, I guess that it
crashes trying to use eth0 ?

Many thanks for your help !

Radboud
