All,

have successfully set up server and one client and logged into xsession.
much joy.

upon upgrading standard gnome to ximian-gnome at server client no longer
brings up login prompt. x starts but times out with grey screen. 'XDM: too
many transmissions' I notice some fixes on the list for KDE, has anyone
resolved this for Gnome (ximian) or can offer suggestions for resolving
this.

also

can anyone advise how I can lock down the desktop for a client session. I
have read up on chroot which looks helpful for hiding system files, but I
want to limit user to restricted set of apps. (akin to MS policies)

I would like to disable -
terminal sessions
desktop config
restart/shutdown options (while maintaining logoff)

also

does a cold boot on a client upset the server?

many thanks

nick
