Well no, M$ has a lot to answer for but you can't blame DHCP on them,
it's an Internet standard. Their implementation may be deficient, if
that's what you mean.
Etherboot has a mechanism for ignoring DHCP servers you don't want.
Peter Lister has outlined the procedure. There's a mail message in the
Etherboot archives written by Marty Connor that describes in detail how
it's done. It's linked to from the user manual.
