Hi, I have the mentioned cyrix box working, with regular (ltsp) kernels and 4.x Xfree-Server since a while. I use the "vesa" driver against a flat screen (1028x786 with 60Hz) with good results. I also flashed the built-in pxe-boot-mechanism by Etherboot, which speeds up the booting process by about 10 seconds. That is a really great thin client, small, cheap, noiseless ...
