Hi gerry,

Your server sounds OK, but If your clients are 486 with 4Mb Ram and 10Mb Nics, they will be ok for use as character terminals (telnet, etc), but If you want to use X-Windows GUI clients, you should be looking at least at Pentium/celeron/cyrix processors, with 32MB Ram and 100Mb NIC. Your rtl8139 Nics may be dual 10/100MB anyway, in which case they'll be ok. We tried running 486 boxes with 4Mb RAM & 10MB NICS's but it proved much too slow for X-Windows applications.
