Sorry, but I did not get much further with Local Floppy or CD access on
LTSP. I did resolve a few more issues via another list (ILUG, the Irish
Linux Users Group) but never got the local floppy access working at all. I
never got the chance to attempt the CD access but was told that with the
current state of the nbd driver that CD access would be almost impossible.
I know that *some people* did have limited success using floppyd but again,
this seems to be more hit and miss than anything else.
On a positive note, someone has offered to completely re-write the nbd
driver and scripts with an eye to getting local floppy and CD access as a
comercial project with some company backing. I don't remember the exact
tread but it was posted to this list a while back. This seems to be the
most promising route to getting floppy and CD access on the workstation.
As for sound, I don't have any sound cards in my workstations, so I did not
even attempt to get this However, there seems to be much more sucess with
this, so it might be better.
Good luck with your project and your pending demonstration. I'm sure that
jsut being able to allow several people to access one server via low-cost
workstations will be very impressive to anyone used to the Windows way of
doing things.
Cheers,
John Gay
