Hmm normally you only will need to recompile the kernel as you would
have to on a normal computer.
Then tag it (IMHO with mknbi).
Place it near your other kernel
Place the new modules in the good directorie
Update your dhcp.conf to match the new path/name to the kernel
restart dhcp then client...
