Don,

First rule of building a kernel for LTSP workstations:  Don't use
the Redhat supplied kernel sources.  They have sooooo many patches
applied, you really don't know what you end up with.  Go to
ftp.kernel.org and grab yourself a nice fresh set of kernel sources.

Also, have you seen the LTSP-3.0 documentation ?  There's a whole
chapter on building kernels.

And, you'll need the ltsp_initrd_kit pkg to setup the initrd.
