Must have been a while ago then. Donald Becker's natsemi.c has been in
the kernel sources, one moment while I look at the sources, since 1999.
And there are not one, but two, Etherboot drivers for this NIC
controller.  Note that this is for the Natsemi DP8381x. Just because a
NIC has a chip with the NS logo on it doesn't mean it is the DP8381x, it
could be the AtLANtic or the good old 8390 (NE2000, WD8013).

As I was saying, if this really is the DP8381x and it's a PCI NIC, then
it shouldn't be necessary to fill in option-129 since LTSP's PCI
subsystem should detect it and load the module.
