Actually, the statement about XFS going nutty is not entirely true.

You just have to make sure you set it up correctly.  You need to find the
XFS config file.  On RH, it is /etc/X11/fs/config

Make sure you set the correct numbers in there.  In particular, the
number of clients to support by each instance of XFS, and make sure
you enable 'cloning', which will cause it to spawn a new XFS after
hitting the max clients.

Sorry I can't tell you exactly how to set it up.  We had a problem about
2 years ago, where all the clients would lock up.  We turned off XFS
and reverted to getting fonts via NFS, and we've never gone back to
figure it out completely.  Having 110 users really makes you think
twice about making changes that could lockup all of the workstations.
