Please try a different ethernet card type. It could be that there is 
something that the driver is doing that corrupts memory in some odd way, 
but I cannot imagine what.

I wonder if there is a BIOS setting like FASTA20 Gating or something that 
is influencing this.  It is almost as though the card is generating 
endless interrupts or doing endless DMA.

>From the information you've given, it is very difficult to imagine what 
is happening.  Try your card in a completely different kind of computer, 
and see if that helps.  Right now, I can't tell if the problem is the 
card, the computer, or the ROM.  Try eliminating big things first.
