Hi Zak,
Not sure what you mean by "hitting a wall" but one thing to check is the
file-max value.
To check the current value type:
cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max
Here is one way to change the value:
echo 24576 > /proc/sys/fs/file-max.
You can add the line above to your rc.local script or if you are running
RedHat add the following line to your /etc/sysctl.conf file:
fs.file-max = 24576
cat /proc/sys/fs/file-nr displays the number of file handlers allocated,
the number currently used and the max number of handlers, in that
order. This is the easiest way I know of to tune the file-max value.
FYI, the maximum value for file-max is 1,048,576.
