So far the hosts file is all there.......

One thing that is bothering me is that if eth0 at the ltsp server is up...I cannot even boot up the client..I got stuck at the mounting filesystem..Once I down the eth0, the client can boot up but takes more than 1 minute. So i took off all connection eth0 to the main network..and the client boot up perfectly. It seems that I cannot even connected to the main network before I bootup the client. I am not sure what happened and where should I trouble shoot.

thanks for your help.

Hello,

How about a DNS issue. Does the ltsp server resolve names correctly and
promptly. Have you put host entries in the ltsp hosts file for the
workstations?

Did that..But somehow the existing network affect the LTSP system
especially during boot up.

Just wondering what I have to do to resolve this.

Hi Duan,

How about adding a second ethernet card to the ltsp server and connect to
the existing network through it.

Good Luck,

Hi everyone

We are in the middle of testing out LTSP v.30 at an office. The office has
network running with dhcp server( i am assuming NT) in place.

When we first went in, we just plucked in our LTSP into their network. But
the time taken for client to boot up is very slow..it takes more than a
minute. Then we decided to separate our set-up from the network by running
LTSP setup with our own switch hub but of course with no internet connection.
The client boot up perfectly..less than 20 sec.

The question is how do we separate our LTSP from the existing network but
at the same time we still want to use their existing gateway.

Any tip?

Thanks.
