        Unless I'm mistaken, 60Hz is as "flicker-free" as any higher refresh
rate on an LCD panel.  It only causes problems with standard monitors.
(I've had several laptops where you can select higher refresh rates for the
built-in video card, but it still shows 60Hz as selected for the internal
LCD panel.  The higher modes only take effect for external monitors plugged
into the video output port.)

        I believe there's little/no point in using higher refresh rates than
60Hz with an LCD display, because LCD panels have more "persistence" of
pixels than standard monitors.  (When you tell a pixel to turn off, it takes
a little time to fade out, instead of going out immediately.)
