I assume that you are using hpnpf?  If so, hpnpf will check port 139
(netbios) to see if it is a valid HP JetDirect printer/card.  I don't
believe that lp_server has implemented a way of responding to this
request.

The only other alternative is to write a script on the SCO system to
dump the contents of the file passed to the interface script out to the
given IP/Name on port 9100.  You would then need to replace
'/usr/lib/hpnp/hpnpf' within the
/usr/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces/[printer] script to your newly made
port dump script.

This is all theoretical, as I have yet to put something together to test
it.  In the near future I will write a Perl script to do it...but I hope
this helps for now.
