First of all, ltsp is in the top 5 coolest opensource projects ever. I ran it
on my mandrake box for a while and it worked flawless.
Today I installed a bigger hard drive and installed debian on it. I
downloaded the debian packages ltsp-core, ltsp-X and ltsp-kernel. Also
installed dhcpd, nfs-user-server, X, tftp and some other stuff. Ran the
ltsp_initialize script like I did on mandrake but then there's this error:
The Linux Terminal Server Project (http://www.LTSP.org)
Doing the update
Xsetup_workstation.tmpl
Saving old /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_workstation as
/etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_workstation.3
dhcpd.tmpl
Saving old /etc/dhcpd.conf.example as /etc/dhcpd.conf.example.3
Creating new dhcpd.leases file
./dhcpd.tmpl: /var/dhcp/dhcpd.leases: No such file or directory
Could not execute ./dhcpd.tmpl, Error: 256
this is right after I give the script my fiat to just alter any files
necessary for ltsp to function.
/var/dhcp doesn't even exist on a debian system! Heh, this seem to be the
first .deb files I ever saw made for a redhat compatible system :-)
Anyway, I heard on the ltsp irc channel that the maintainer for these
packages has a lot a work for the moment so I really don't blame him or
anyone :-) but just a remark...
Anyway, I recycled my old config files from my previous install (including
dhcpd.conf) but for some reason my thin client now wants to boot from the ip
adresse 192.168.0.1 for some reason - which is my 486 gateway, not very
suitable for a ltsp server. I can't remember having changed that setting . An
idea someone?
Frank
