I have been trying to upgrade my LTSP clients to the 2.4.18 kernel. I
followed the instructions in the manual, but I am having the following
problems.
dhclient complains about CONFIG_PACKET and CONFIG_FILTER. The options are
definately set in the kernel config. Searching the net, I gained the
impression that I might need a more recent version of dhclient. I downloaded
the latest DHCP source, but I couldn't figure out how to build a dhclient
that was compatible with the libraries in the LTSP initrd kit.
I then decided that if I built a kernel without initrd (as described in the
manual) then it wouldn't use dhclient and I would bypass the problem. Sadly
this doesn't work either. I get lots of error messages basically complaining
that / is read only (which of course it is). Do I need to pass different
parameters to mknbi-linux?
Bottom line: Has anyone got clients working with 2.4.18 and if so how did
they do it.
