Thankyou to all who have replied, it has been most helpful...
At this stage I am not in a position to suggest any type of terminal to the customer. I am really just the (unpaid) consultant here. The client in question is happy so far and is now getting down to more technical questions. Two main questions are: 1. Scalabilty 2. Management Question 1: Everybody has been really helpful so far, but the customer wants something more concrete than "yeah we should be able to run 50 clients on such and such a box". Many responses suggested some form of profiling. Unfortunately I am not in a position to build a test environment. So I'm wondering if somebody (myself?) can start collecting success stories. These stories must have full technical details so that others can use them as reference. We can them make them into a sort of how-to/reference manual. Unless of course this already exists, in which case can somebody provide me a link? Question 2: I guess this question can be answered with some experience (I'm doing an install of LTSP right now). But how is management done on this large a scale? Are there specific tools? What happens if you have a myriad of different hardware? Does this make management extra difficult? Another question: most modern pc's have NIC's onboard that support PXE. Can they be used and how? Regards, Craig Reeson RHCE Senior Engineer Servex Australia Ph.
