That error message does not in itself mean that you actually have a
serial mouse, only that you have /dev/ttyS1 in lts.conf.

You have written that the kernel finds a PS/2 port (/dev/psaux) when
booting, that made me think that you actually had a PS/2 mouse.

If you actually have a serial mouse connected to /dev/ttyS1 and it is
not found, then I would check that the serial ports are found at boot
(if not, are serial ports support compiled in to the kernel at all).

If compiled in but not found on boot, try including

"Support for sharing serial interrupts"
"Autodetect IRQ on standard ports (unsafe)"

available under

"Extended dumb serial driver options"
