a) my system works fine no matter who does what (including login) while
burning CDs
b) The man pages for cdrecord say it *must* run as root to allocate the
RT priorities. I've not used cdroast, but this is your area to worry
about. RFM on cdrecord. verynice (afaik) will not affect RT priority
and hence will not work.
