Hi For a computing classroom, I wrote a modest Hack For LTSP (i should name it h4ltsp.tar.gz!) that:
- use a local swap partition (configurable in lts.conf) - use a local tmp (configurable in lts.conf) - easy to modify and use any local partition you want on the local IDE - runs every apps locally by NFS mounting the stuff from the server... (this can be a problem read the LTSP doc!) - do some cosmetic things with kdm... - can create a temporary generic account in /tmp/home/XXX It is very alpha but works fine with RH7.1 server and 12 clients (Celeron 800MHz, 128Mb, network is 100Mbps). There was no problem for 3 monthes of computing by undergraduate students... I can provide the tarball on the web if you feel it can fit to your needs. The rc.local script has been hacked and of course I use a special rebuild kernel (not the standard LTSP one). It is always possible to use the system in the standard LTSP way so you can have true thin client and WS using local CPU and disk (for scientific computing in my case!). regards and thanks for this excellent LTSP. I learned many things with it! frc -- Franois Mauger Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire de Caen et Universit de Caen ISMRA - 6, Boulevard du Marechal Juin, 14050 CAEN Cedex, FRANCE e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- fax: (0/33) 2 31 45 25 12 web-page: http://www.physique-eea.unicaen.fr/~fmauger/ _______________________________________________________________ Have big pipes?
