Sean,

Local apps is a bit of a challenge to setup.  Actually,
getting it going initially isn't hard, but adding your own
apps is where the challenge comes in.  You need to figure
out which libraries are required, and which additional files
are required.

I've not heard of anybody running xmms locally, but technically,
there's no reason it shouldn't.

I've been running XMMS as a server app, playing the sounds on
my Jammin-125 with no problems at all.
