I won't argue whether this is a good or bad idea. I allow the last person 
working, in this fairly small enclosed environment, to logout of the server 
system (running KDM) and perform a shutdown from the KDM logout screen. This 
system does not need to run 24/7 when no clients are present and nobody is 
using the server for other purposes.

Anyhow, it all worked fine with the previous RH7.2 installation and now it 
fails much of the time. I just can't understand why the shutdown would work 
once in a while but not always. It would be simpler to understand if it 
NEVER worked as opposed to intermittently.
