*** I would have to agree whole-heartedly with Glenn re: Don't give in to
a few teachers. We have a solid LTSP installation base and are continuing
as quickly as possible but it's an uphill battle. There are always those
few "vocal" people who
don't pay the bills that sometimes get in the way. An approach we have
taken is try to explain why it is important to switch. We explain the very
real threat of MS Audits by printing the various articles easily found on
the web and distributing them. We also bring this threat of audits to our
superiors (ie: School Superintendant, Trustees). So if a hard line teacher
goes over our heads they get the same response back. In the past I
handled the MS Office / Windows problem like this. When someone
"demands" windows/office I say "No problem, we'll dual boot your systems -
both Linux & Windows. I simply have two questions"


1. How many Windows Licences have you purchased?
2. How many Office Licences have you purchased?

If they only have x licenses then that's all they get - no more. If they
complain about it they are asked by our superiors: "Where are your
licenses?"
