AFAIK, it has to be compiled in kernel. I'm using hdparm (-d1 /dev/hda) to enable DMA support on my hard disk drive. It says this: HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted I searched the web for this and every time it was due to missing DMA-support in the kernel. Thank for your help....
