G'morning! Just sub'd to this list this morning, and have my first question: I've read varying accounts of the ability for the LTSP package to specify exactly where processing occurs - Perhaps if you have 40 slower PI machines, and 20 faster, say athlon diskless stations, could the processing for the PI machines' applications occur on the central server, while the athlon stations' applications are transferred to the client and processed locally, thereby saving us a little $$ on buying such a beast central terminal server? (Obviously, being non-profit and k-12 we haven't much dough to throw around)
Is this just another level of complexity that would not realize significant gains? What impact would this (if it's possible) setup have on the required network infrastructure due to increased/decreased traffic loads? -Michael in VA ----------------- Michael Blinn IT Guy, People Places, Inc. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee... - Meditation 17, Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions, 1624 ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
