The general way to troubleshoot X is to start the workstation in runlevel 3 and run /tmp/start_ws If you have a working XF86Config, from an earlier installation or a similar not diskless workstation, you can use that one, see the XF86CONFIG_FILE parameter in lts.conf. -- Hans Ekbrand
