|Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] Flash Player problems revisited
|
|
|Okay, we had this conversation a month ago and I just now got back to dealing
|with it.
|
|Guess what? It's illegal to run Flash 5 on a terminal server system. From
|the license agreement:
|
|"You may install and use the Software on a single desktop computer that has a
|Windows PC (including Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, Me and XP), a Macintosh
|desktop operating system, a Linux desktop operating system, or a Solaris
|desktop operating system.... A license for the Software may not be shared,
|installed or used concurrently on different computers. "
|
|That puts us back to Square One as far as the problem with Flash on LTSP goes.
|
I'm not any legalese expert, but does the "use" of the software on a single
computer mean that the flash plugin can run on just one machine, say a LTSP
server, regardless of how many machines are importing its' graphical output?
The way the restriction is stated, it's not clear if the use of the software
is limited in terms of how many computers are running it on their hardware or
in terms of the number of machines the plugin's output is beeing directed to.
I am only sure this applies to browsers beeing run locally on the workstation.
Maybe I'm going to experience Macromedia's RealPlayer again on flash
animation, when I last tryed it on the server, it would play the video but
failed to produce any sound.
