We had a problem with one of our client PC's where neither the keyboard or the mouse
were recognized.

The default client config in lts.conf specifies a ps/2 mouse and keyboard.

When I modified the mouse option to point to the serial instead:

X_Mouse_Device = "/dev/ttyS0"

Both the mouse and keyboard started working.

Hope this helps.
