For running ltsp clients you need a DHCP server which tells the clients
where to get the boot file from. This task can be done by a Linux or any
other DHCP server that can send the "bootserver" and "bootfile" option
to the client. These options can be set in the Win2k config like DNS
server or router. So simply set the "bootserver" option to your "ltsp"
server's IP and your Linux TFTP server is used. Set the "bootfile"
option to the boot image and the client should boot.

Betreff: [Ltsp-discuss] separate DHCP and LTSP Server

We are trying to setup an ltsp server on a IBM M/F running linux and
have the following issue:

Our DHCP server is running on a Win2k server for the whole company.
Is there a way to setup and ltsp server without the involvement of the
DHCP server so that the client can still get their IP only from the DHCP
server and their boot info from the ltsp server? If not, how can we go
about doing it with as little effect on the current DHCP setup as
possible? There will be workstation that boot their local OS
(winxp,win2k) and there are those that will be an LTSP clients.

thanks
