Etherboot should soon do something similar; first, Eric Biederman's
recent work allows a "portmanteau" image which incorporates every known
driver, and secondly Michael Brown has added support which encodes a
listing of the PCI bus as a dhcp option. The idea is that the server can
choose an appropriate boot image depending on what hardware is reported,
but it's simple enough to just log this if all you want is a report. One
might build images on the fly, or boot an image which prints a polite
message stating that the hardware isn't supported just now...
