I don't know about X on MacOS X but on Linux you could have several
independent Xservers simultaneously.

X -query <IP of LTSP server> :9

would bring up an Xserver on VT9, which again on Linux (i386) could be
accessed with Ctrl-Alt-F9.

So Xnest might not be necessary.
