Yes, or add more RAM (I assume that you mean 3Mb RAM), or get newer hardware. I could help you to compile a custom kernel if you want to, mail me off-list. Be warned that if you want to use X windows, and modern programs like webb browers or office suites, a 386 will be too slow for serious work.
