I have set up a diskless client that works very nicely with the ltsp
initrd. The only problem is that
names are not being resolved correctly. I have the proper files set up:
/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/host.conf
I have used strace to see the files that are accessed and it does get a
little angry about the absence of libnsl. However, adding it to /lib
does not help matters. The host.conf file is never even opened. It
will open resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf but not host.conf.
I have also compiled my own version of busybox (staticly linked with
what I thought was a decent version of libc6) but that did not improve
matters. Why is the gethostbyname() process getting shortened here?
Anyone else having these troubles with ltsp_initrd_kit-3.0.5 ?
michael

PS- an example of the problem is if you type "ping host" where host is
in /etc/hosts an error is returned "host: Resolver Error: 0 (no error)"
