By default, you use Alt-F4 to close X.  If you use the -unixkill option, 
then you use Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to kill it (like a normal X terminal).

Probably the next thing to do would be to use NFS, but this requires NFS 
client software on the Windows box.  I don't think Windows comes with an 
NFS client, so you would have to acquire one and install it on all your 
Windows boxes.  I don't know if there is a free NFS client available, so 
  there might be some expenses involved.

Personally I think Samba would be an easier road for you to take.
