Thank you for your help Darryl.
At first I couldn't get things to work, until I found out that I had somehow
mixed an old LTSP 2.4.x kernel with a different and Mandrake-compiled
pxestuff version, which was attempting to load modules from a non-existing
lib/...Mandrake... directory for (also) a different kernel version.....
(.....oops!!). Say no more.
A hard lesson, showing once again how "you get what you deserve", when you
don't take the time to see what's really going on and do things the correct
way, but instead allow time pressure to make you feel happy as long as "it is
working", although in fact *nothing* is working at all, and the fact that
anything *seems* to be working is a miracle in the first place!
So for the record, and for everyone who reads this mailing list, here is what
I did to fix up my mess in a proper way, and to get a USB mouse and a USB
keyboard to work with my VIA Eden motherboard:
=> I reinstalled latest ltsp stuff from rpm packages:
# rpm -qa | grep ltsp
ltsp_core-3.0.5-0
ltsp_x_fonts-3.0.0-0
ltsp_x_core-3.0.1-1
ltsp_kernel-3.0.5-0
=> I added pxestuff-3.0.5-i386.tgz (needed for the VIA Eden board)
So then everything is based on kernel 2.4.19, i.e. the ltsp kernel (needed
for the usb modules) and the pxe version of the ltsp kernel (for VIA Eden).
=> And here is the relevant part of my lts.conf file:
MODULE_01 = usb-uhci
MODULE_02 = usbmouse
MODULE_03 = mousedev
MODULE_04 = usbkbd
MODULE_05 = keybdev
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/input/mice"
That's all folks!
