Hi, Yesterday "robbie" helped me install Staroffice6.0 for LTSP via irc - Thanks Robbie. But what I learned yesterday gave me some concerns and I would be grateful if someone could tell me if things are better than I understand them. This all relates to the install method I've noted at the end of this email.
Q1, It seems there is some installation work required whilst logged on as each user. If you have over 1200 users this looks just a bit daunting even impractical, is there a better way? Q2, The "user" install, installs to /home/staroffice. In a school environment is there anything that can be done to prevent the little angels from deleting the install. If they can, they will! Thanks for your help/advice. Install procedure used. Install StarOffice 6.0 (global) Logon as root on server. Cd to /mnt/cdrom/linux/office60 Run the install program with a /net switch ie. "./setup /net <ret>" When asked, install to /usr/local/Staroffice. Then install per user as below... Install StarOffice 6.0 (Users) Logon to station as any user. cd to /usr/local/staroffice/program Run swriter with command "./swriter <ret>" When asked install to default of /home/staroffice.
