Thanks to Julius Szelagiewicz, Jim McQuil, Stuart Baird, and cliebow for
pointing me at the solution of using SWCursor in the XFree86 configuration.

A google search for SWCursor shows that the problem appears to be related
to hardware bugs and/or video driver implementation for several graphics
chip sets, and is not specific to Linux or LTSP., showing up with Windows
as well. The solution is the same, using a software pointer instead of
hardware pointer, or possibly changing the driver to work around the problem.

In the case of the VIA Edens, the integrated graphics is listed as "Trident
Blade 3D graphics core".

 From xfree86.org:
Option ``HWCursor'', which is the default, specifies that hardware
facilities are to be used to paint the mouse pointer on the screen. Option
``SWCursor'' specifies that the mouse pointer is to by drawn by software,
which is much slower.

I am relatively new to LTSP and this mailing list, but it appears that
there are a number of clients that are used more frequently than others.
What if we build a little database of lts.conf settings for devices that
require or could benefit from special settings? It could also be as simple
as adding a few more commented-out examples for specific graphics adapters
common to LTSP to lts.conf itself.
