But you seem to misunderstand the client-server-concept of the X-System: The server is the machine which has the keyboard, monitor and mouse (usually with some user attached), while the client is the machine that uses these ressources for its programs. Usually the client is the machine with tons of ram and gigs of hard drive. Yes you can use the X-client of your Linux-Server, to display anything on the laptop. Try running "X -query 1.2.3.4" (on the laptop) where you substitue 1.2.3.4 with your linux server's IP. Better do this from runlevel 3, as I am not to sure if SuSE is configured for several X displays at once and even if it is, there is the rest of possibility that your graphics card does not like it! Better "init 3" first. If you want to start "X -query..." automatically, instead of locally, look into /etc/init.d for the file "xdm" (or maybe "kdm", if you use the K Display Manager for login on that laptop) and replace the appropriate display manager lines by "X -query...".
