You can run also gmc and icewm and get your icons - it's not so bloated.

But I'm working since a few days at the same problem and I think "qvwm" is
for our problem the best windowmanager you can get. There is a central
config-file (system.qvwmrc) where you can manage for _all_ users the menus,
icons ... (you get more with "man qvwm"). If the pupil are working with
Win95 they won't notice that they're now working with linux - qvwm it's the
same look like Win95 :-)
If you're taking similiar icons like the Wordicon, Excelicon .. for
Starwriter, Starcalc ..., they won't notice that they're not working with
MS-Office ;-)

But nevertheless  you can't get icons on the taskbar like with Win98, you
can only drop your icons only on the desktop.
