Romain, Well there is always another solution to every problem, just maybe not elegant, easy or tried! :-)
I am just starting to muck with the nbd support for a new project but the tying the user to a machine seems to be so that the server knows which workstations block device to use when you ask for access to "the floppy disk." A quick thought is to create the device files during the users log-in process using the $DISPLAY (which workstation) and $HOME (which user) variables. This would enable the user to 'float'. Of course you'd have to think this through because I can foresee some issues - i.e. what happens if the user logs into two terminals at the same time?
