Our installation also uses SuSE server, LTSP-3.0, and VIA-ITX-based clients.

I used the etherboot approach for booting with PXE, where
PXE -> etherboot -> load kernel (DHCP, TFTP, etc.).

To get this working I did not use the pxestuff package.

>From www.rom-o-matic.org I downloaded version 5.0.7 (production, latest), 
driver VIA-rhine for the integrated VIA VT6103 EthernetPHY NIC in the VIA 
boards. ROM output format: PXE-loadable ROM image.

This approach allows you to use the LTSP kernel as-is. This approach has been 
documented previously on this list by Conrad Lawes under the subject 
"PXEstuff vs PXEetherboot".
