Have you made sure the erver identifier entry in the dhpd.conf file is
an ip address and not a name? ie 

        in /etc/dhcpd.conf :

        server-identifier 'my.tftserver.ip.address.here'


else the client will ask it's self for the boot image...

You may also have to add:

'ddns-update-style ad-hoc;' to the dhcpd.conf file to make dhcpd work
again. Remember to restart dhcpd

That's what I had to do for redhat 8. I take it mandrake 8.2 is based of
it??
