I am a student of University and I am doing some research on cluster computing. For this purpose I have selected the LTSP for diskless clints (if I am not wrong), I have successfully implemented the LTSP client & server configuration and have also installed and configured the local application support for application which requir the rsh on diskless workstations.
Now I am trying to run the pvm on my server and trying to add the host (diskless workstation). But the pvm does not search the deomon on the workstation instead it loops back to the server and generats a message as follows:

Either PVM is Already Running or else it crashed and left behind a /pvmd.<uid> daemon file.
Halt PVM if it is running on ws001, or else remove any leftover /pvmd.* files.

On the workstation no PVM Daemon is started. Adding in your information the same setting works on fully installed Linux workstation. I got the same message on fully installed workstation when I previously start the PVM Daemon on the workstation and issue the command "add ws001" from server's pvm console. If is stop the pvm daemon on the fully installed workstation the host is added successfully.
My guess is that the PVM Daemon does not go to diskless workstation(LTSP enabled) Instead it searches in the local server
