There has been recent discussion on this exact topic, relating to an IBM
solution, as well as a rather cheap SOYO combination right now, the soyo not
necessarily being a thin client, but could be setup as one. In my latest
venture I am working on building a LTSP kiosk. The soyo solution in my case
would be a little cheaper, but it still required network card. At anyrate,
you should definitely search the list, there are plenty of discussions about
the netvista's, the jamming series of products as well. At anyrate, there
are a number of quick discussions on this subject throughout the list.
Check the archives, within in the past month there have been atleast two in
depth discussions...

Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] what kind of thin clients can I buy and where?

Greetings list,
I am about to plundge myself into this topic and would like a little
help from all of you all.

I've sucessfully installed the LTSP 3.0 package's on my linux server (SuSE
8.0)
and have a number of "normal" PC's booting happly up into a KDE3 Terminal.

Now what kind of "thin client" hardware can I buy to do just this Job
WITHOUT
using  a normal PC.

I've been searching the internet and find a number of thin clients. Like
SUN and HP's or Compac.
These have operating systems pre installed Windows CE or Java or Some have
Linux on board.

A "thin client" for a LTSP 3.0 boot would ONLY need a BOOTP active Prom and
NO operating
system. Can something like this be bought and could someone point me to a
"What to buy"
list. Or what have any of you sucessfully installed into a LTSP / Linux
Server network.

I've already looked on the LTSP Website and not found any documentation.
May I just don't
know what to look for yet.

By the way I have my eye on a thin client "Sun Ray 1".
http://www.sun.de/Produkte/Hardware/ThinClients/ray1.html Will this do the
trick?

my best regards,

Stefan
