OK, I've struggled with this awhile and find it very confusing. I'm running KDM with LTSP 3.0, on one Mandrake 8.2 server (soon to be upgraded) at school and one Mandrake 9.0 server at home. I prefer IceWM on the workstations.
First, I disable the graphic login (the one with all the goofy faces) which really seems stupid with several hundred users at school, all with the same face. If I get into KDE on the server, under the KDE Control Center I can find a login manager and turn off the faces. However, they seem to come back sometime later. I have not been able to find the actual configuration file that GUI sets, and at that it may be the wrong one, since the faces seem to come back. Related to this question (though perhaps a bit loosely), if the workstations will be running IceWM, does it make any difference which DM is running, KDM, GDM, or XDM? Thanks lots for any insight or pointers you may have. I HAVE looked at several X-related howtos, but haven't found answers. -- Jan Wilson, SysAdmin _/*]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Corozal Junior College | |:' corozal.com corozal.bz Corozal Town, Belize | /' chetumal.com & linux.bz Reg.
